Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom for variety)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- 1 tsp paprika (optional, for added flavor)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with diced onions and minced garlic. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Drain excess grease once cooked.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup and sour cream. Stir until smooth. Mix this into the cooked beef mixture.
- Assemble the Casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
- Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.
Notes
- For a healthier version, use lean ground turkey, low-fat cheese, and baked sweet potato tots.
- Add veggies like diced bell peppers or spinach to boost nutrition.
