Classic Pot Roast Method

Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).

Season the beef chuck roast generously with salt, pepper, and optional spices.

Heat oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides until browned (about 10 minutes total).

Add onions, garlic, beef broth, water, and bay leaves to the pot. Cover tightly with a lid.

Transfer to the oven and bake for 3–4 hours, basting occasionally, until the meat is fork-tender.

Let the roast rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve with gravy made from the drippings.

Slow Cooker Method

Season the beef chuck roast and sear as above.

Place the seared roast in a slow cooker along with onions, garlic, broth, and vegetables.

Cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 4–6 hours until tender.

Grilling Chuck Steaks

Marinate chuck steaks in a mixture of olive oil, vinegar, garlic, and herbs for at least 1 hour.
